There's lots of reasons people become fat, and just as many reasons why people want to lose weight, too. Maybe you want to improve your health, and live longer. Or many you want to be able to move more, without getting out of breath or struggling with your joints. 

Perhaps you want to lose weight so you can enjoy life more - let's face it, when you're overweight, clothes fit poorly, seats and beds are uncomfortable, and everything is just a bit more difficult than it should be. 

Or it could be another reason altogether, something deep and personal that you've never shared with anyone. 

ARE YOU TIRED OF LIVING THE SAME MISERABLE CYCLE OVER AND OVER? 

You're tired of being fat, so you decide to make a change and start your brand new diet on Monday. This time, you're sure it'll work!

Monday comes round and you've done all your food prep, you're all determined and full of optimism. This time, you know you won't fail!

But life gets tough, and people keep offering you treats, you're tired, works and life is stressful...having one won't hurt, will it? 

So you fall off the wagon, again. So you decide to cheer yourself up with comfort food and treats. Maybe, you'll try again, next Monday...

Allow yourself a moment just to imagine what life would be like if you were at a happy, healthy weight, at peace in your body and mind, perhaps for the first time in a long time. 

What would you wear? Plus sized clothing can be ugly and expensive. Would you wear the same clothes if you were healthier? 

What would you do with your day? So often our career choices are curtailed by our weight. Would you do the same job if you were finally healthy? 

What would you do with your free time? Many leisure activities are difficult if you're fat. What would you finally get to do if you were free of the fat? 

TREATMENT OF OBESITY BY MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

Depending where you live in the country, you might find your GP offers you a free membership to a diet club for support to lose weight. And an initial weight loss can happen...but so often, people rebound with their weight, or even develop disordered eating, because when you're taught that food is a "syn", how can you ever have a sensible relationship with food? 

Other GPs might provide you with a free gym membership, maybe even with a free personal trainer session or two. These can be useful, but only for people who feel confident enough to actually go to the gym. And while movement is important being healthy, it doesn't help you learn what to eat. 

Weight loss "jabs" are becoming more common - but these often have significant side effects, assuming you can actually get them in the first place. 

The most drastic option, surgery, can seem like an easy option - simply "go to sleep" and wake up with a smaller stomach! - but often people who undergo bariatric surgery find themselves needing to obsess even more than before about their food, because the "wrong" food can be difficult to digest, and often they can't digest vital nutrients as they could before, so need to take supplements forever. It is not the easy option that the enticing brochures and websites promise.

Hypnotherapy for weight loss requires a minimum of three sessions for the best results; you're welcome to book them one at a time, but you will need to commit to all three in order to be able to book.
